CASE STUDY

Then AWF Trustee Daniella Dos Santos went the extra mile for animal welfare at the London Marathon!

Daniella, a dedicated companion animal and exotics vet, embarked on an extraordinary journey when she decided to participate in the London Marathon and became the first person (but hopefully, not last!) to represent our charity in one of the world’s largest sporting events.

“Those who know me will be aware running is not among my favorite activities, but I am stepping up to the challenge to raise much-needed funds for this fantastic charity that’s making a real, tangible difference to animals worldwide.” said Daniella.

Daniella’s determination and commitment to AWF were truly exceptional. Not only did she have to contend with the physical strain of training for and running a marathon, but she also had to overcome the effects of a spider bite, which had been an additional obstacle in her preparation, as well as unusually hot weather conditions on race day.

Nevertheless, her passion for animal welfare and her desire to raise funds for AWF spurred her forward and she completed the race in seven hours, raising a whopping £1,600 for our charity.

The impact of Daniella’s marathon achievement extended beyond the finish line as the funds she raised helped support AWF’s crucial work, emphasizing the power of a single person’s dedication to make a significant difference.

Thank you Daniella!
